Topic: Upcoming Gig
MTV International and Island/Def Jam Records have announced a global promotion for the release of Sum 41's upcoming 3rd album, Chuck. As part of the promotion, the band will be circumnavigating the globe and performing 6 live shows across Asia, Europe and of course, Australia! The very special Sydney performance brings the band to town for 1 show only at The Metro on October 8, 2004. The story of Chuck comes from the band's trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo in May to shoot a documentary (with the non-profit group War Child Canada) about the impact of the longstanding civil war on the nation's children. Although the band arrived during a time of cease-fire, while there they encountered bombs and gunfire. The violence escalated to the point where the band members were barricaded in a hotel bathroom as bullets pelted their hotel room. A U.N. representative named Chuck Pelletier made an evacuation plan. He herded the band into the lobby, then ran with them through gunfire to an armoured tank and eventually to safety. And that is the genesis of the title, Chuck. The first single "We're All To Blame" highlights the band's frenetic energy surrounded by a melodic harmony. It's an All Ages show with tickets on sale Friday 24th September from Ticketek phonecharge 9266 4800 or www.ticketek.com & Metro Theatre Box Office phone 9287 2000 or www.metrotheatre.com.au
