This one-off show will take place at The Prince of Wales in St Kilda,on Thursday September 2nd. Tickets will only be available at the door on the night (there will be no pre-sales); and doors open at 8.00 pm. All further details are available at somethingforkate.com. In other news, On August 23, SFK are set to release a double album of their b-sides. A big band in comparison to most with eight musicians coming from a variety of cultural backgrounds, Rastawookie express this eclectic mix of people with the tunes they blast out, incorporating dub, reggae, drum 'n' bass, hip-hop, latin, funk, african, ska, and jazz. Often compared to bands such as Ozomatli, Salmonella Dub and The Cat Empire, the crowds are continually getting bigger as word keeps spreading about this underground Sydney based band and how they are bound to be the next big thing! If you're looking for something different and tired of seeing bands that play sets that sound like one big song, then come and join the celebrations with the party atmosphere and fresh sounds that Rastawookie bring. Friday August 13 @ The Civic Hotel and Saturday 14th August @ The Charlton Bar, Manly.

25 years in the game is a huge achievement for any business... But the odds are really stacked against you when your business is an independent record store, dealing in underground musical genres! Utopia Records have done that and to celebrate there is a huge licensed, all ages show at the Manning Bar... Headlined by one of Sydney's most successful independent & underground acts, COG, this all day event celebrates, and showcases, some of the best the "heavy music scene" has to offer at the moment, while displaying the diversity the scene encompasses under that genre. From Cog's epic sonic soundscapes, to Frankenbok & Daysend's blistering metal assaults, through to Omerata's hardcore angst with Brace & Walk The Earth filling in the points in between! This show will also be the debut gig for Walk The Earth, the new band featuring DW Norton (ex-Superheist) and Jamie Ludbrook (original Damaged vocalist). Exciting times ahead once these guys descend upon the metal scene over the next few months! Read More for the full days rundown!

In July 2003 Blacklevel Embassy rose from the embers of a number of Melbourne and Sydney groups including Warped, Solaris, Little General and Ricaine. Blacklevel Embassy are six arms and six legs working in unison to create a severe aural assault with a barrage of gravelly, driving electric guitar, morbidly obese bass and powerhouse drumming. They will follow their performance as the backing band for the one-man sex show that is Spod at the Zoo, Brisbane on Black Friday (13th August) with a dose of real heavy rock. Rics Cafe, Brisbane will be the venue, 2am (Saturday morning) will be the time. Dust off the denim, fill the glass and prepare to rock.

Sydney's rock/punk troopers Unpaid Debt, have been working round the clock quite literally in 2004. With their recent unearthing by the J's, the four piece have been tearing up the rock tarmac with the likes of Mad Caddies, headlining their own shows, and still having found time to head into the studio to record their forthcoming EP, 'Broken Hearts, Broken Bones' which boasts 'Verity' and five other great tracks, Now, they're ready to flex their musical muscles as they take over the Wednesday night 'Blue Print Sessions' residency at the Surry Hills Excelsior with a whole crowd of Sydney's finest talent, including The Optionals, Bagster, Australian Thighs, Ward 4, Crank and the Self Righteous Brothers. If that's not enough, whilst hitting the Sydney stage every week in August, the guys will be heading to Melbourne and their first visit to WA. Unpaid Debt will release their new EP, 'Broken Hearts, Broken Bones' in October. Read More for Blueprint Sessions lineups.

In a time when the Gold Coast’s live music and club scene needs a change on the rock tip. Cobra Club arrives to challenge preconceived notions of punk/rock/hardcore nightlife. A party program of hybrid styles and genres, Cobra Club cannot be categorized or pigeonholed with any existing club or live events on the Gold Coast. It is the new noise for a new generation. Every Friday from 8pm at The Troccadero Clubhouse, Cobra Club will showcase local, national and international live music, DJs, and skate/music/street multimedia works. Complimentary and contrasting styles combined in a minor punk rock revolution, and always at an accessible ticket price. To launch it there's a two night shindig going on. Thursday August 5 with After The Fall & The Hot Lies, and then Friday August 6 with A Secret Death, In Ashes We Lie, The Scare.
