Top 20 Releases of 2010 – #4 – Parkway Drive

Coming in at #4 in my Top 20 Releases of 2010 countdown is the ever growing Parkway Drive machine and their album ‘Deep Blue‘ which has been a massive release for the band, picking up well deserved awards all over the place. An album that I reckon has a great appeal, not just to the hardcore or metal crowd but anyone who likes some good hard tunes. Top 20 Releases of 2010 – #5 – Tim Barry

Into the business end of the countdown of my Top 20 Releases of 2010, and coming in at #5 is Richmond, Virginia’s Tim Barry and his album ‘28th & Stonewall‘ which was released via Suburban Home Records just in time for his slot on the Revival Tour earlier in the year where he delivered by favourite live performance of the year. Top 20 Releases of 2010 – #6 – Gyroscope

Always a favourite around these traps are Perth’s Gyroscope, so i’m sure it’s no surprise to see that their latest album ‘Cohesion‘ has come in at #6 in my Top 20 Releases of 2010 countdown. It’s kept the band busy this year on and off the stage, debuted at #3 in the charts and personally I reckon it’s their most complete album to date. Top 20 Releases of 2010 – #7 – The Damned Things

There’s always a last minute bolter, and this year that title belongs to The Damned Things who come in at #7 in my Top 20 Releases of 2010 countdown. Released this month, the debut album, ‘Ironiclast‘ from this super group has been dominating my listening time in the past couple of weeks and is a fantastic hook & anthem filled rock album. A nice surprise, given that most super groups don’t really seem to match their talent levels with quality output. Doesn’t happen here, it’s fantastic. Number 9 in my Top 20 Releases of 2010 belongs to Melbourne rock outfit Children Collide who this year released their fantastic ‘Theory Of Everything‘ album. Spawning a number of singles and keeping them busy on the road, this is their finest hour to date and hopefully their real breakthrough album. Full of catchy rock tunes with a hint of grunge, and some shit hot artwork throughout, it’s one of the years must have albums in my opinion and earns it’s spot in the top ten. Bombshell Presents – City And Colour Australian Tour

In news that is sure to excite many, and make your Monday a little less drab, Canadian singer / songwriter, Dallas Green, will be making his highly anticipated return to Australian shores in April 2011 for his first headlining City And Colour tour. The Alexisonfire guitarist / vocalist has never been one to have his name strewn across the front of an album cover, and so from here was spawned the play-on-words moniker of City (Dallas) And Colour (Green) – his acoustic / alternative / mellow rock side project. The tour begins on Tuesday 5th April at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, then stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and wraps up in Perth on Monday 11th April. Number #11 in my Top 20 Releases of 2010 countdown brings us to Melbourne, the current home of the man who’s name is usually followed by a lengthy (and impressive) list of many other band names. Jamie Hay. This year he released his debut solo 7″ titled ‘Thieves‘ via Hobbledehoy Record Co. It may only be a few tracks all up, but it was always going to cement a place in this list, instantly appealing, and a must have release in your collection if you enjoy a good song. They re-issued some back catalogue titles, played a bunch of shows and then hit us with a brand new album in ‘Arturo Gatti’, they are Sydney hardcore outfit Toe To Toe, long running, but still in top form. Bombshell Presents – Suicidal Tendencies

Long running, but never tiring punk / hardcore legends Suicidal Tendencies have made good on their recent promises of a full Australian tour after last year playing a handful of Queensland dates. Mike Muir and co. will be visiting the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in May 2011. By then, the band should be armed with a brand new album, and one hell of a back catalogue to entertain us with. Tickets go on sale Thursday 16th December. As we approach the fourth Blood, Sweat & Beers event in Sydney set for next January 29th, organisers pondered just how to build on the last one. The pondering sessions, as you will see were a success, because Blood, Sweat & Beers #4 is the biggest yet. Don’t believe me? Cop this for size. The Nation Blue, Unpaid Debt (poking out from the grave), Old Music For Old People, The Currency, Lungs, Coerce, Totally Unicorn, Grenadiers, The Ramshackle Army, Epics and Chris Duke and The Royals. Interview – All That Remains

Bombshell Presents – Biffy Clyro headline shows

Now we’re stoked to let you know about 2 special headline shows they will be playing whilst in the country.
