Bombshell Presents – Tim Barry Australian Tour

Tim Barry’s been kicking around the musical underground for nearly 20 years, first as the front man for Virginia punk heroes Avail, and more recently as a singer-songwriter with a penchant for constructing beautiful folk and country tunes. Tim’s been particularly busy the past few years, gigging relentlessly, including a couple months both here and overseas on the inaugural Revival Tour with fellow travelers Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, and Frank Turner, as well as supporting Against Me! and The Gaslight Anthem internationally. All this while managing to generate a steady stream of recordings including a split 7” EP with pal Frank Turner and his most recent release 28th and Stonewall, Barry’s third full length recording, a masterful collection of heartsick dirges, wry commentary, and upbeat stomp-alongs. Tim Barry will be returning this April for a run of dates supported by Chris Wollard and Addison Burns. Tickets are on sale January 14. Click below to expand this post for the details.

Social Distortion ‘Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes’ album stream

You can now take a listen to the new Social Distortion album ‘Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes‘ which will hit stores on January 21st via Epitaph / Shock. The stream is happening [Here]. The band visits Australia for the first time next month on Soundwave Festival. The band’s Melbourne headline Sidewave has sold out, with limited tickets for their Sydney show with The Bronx remaining.

Interview – Ben Jorgensen – Tour begins this week

Our first Bombshell Presents tour kicks off this Friday night in Adelaide. Armor For Sleep were a band on many people’s ‘tour wishlist’, and for whatever reason, they never made it to Australian shores before they came to an end. Late last year, the band’s frontman Ben Jorgensen self-released a solo digital EP ‘There Is Nowhere Left To Go‘ (Grab a limited CD copy at the shows) and promptly announced an Australian tour to go with it. Realising that Australian audiences didn’t get to catch Armor For Sleep live, Ben will mix up his set with this new solo material, AFS classics and a cover or two. Deborah Konopnicki quickly caught up with Ben over email for a quick chat whilst he was packing for this tour. Tickets are on sale now, they are cheap, and the show should be quite entertaining, so if you are free when he visits your town, head along. Free Devildriver MP3 download

‘Beast‘, the new and fifth studio album from Devildriver will hit stores on February 18th via Roadrunner Records. Just in time for the band’s appearance on Soundwave Festival next month. The opening track ‘Dead To Rights‘ is currently available as a free download courtesy of Roadrunner [Here]. Eddie Vedder adds Perth dates

Initially not making it’s way to Perth due to scheduling conflicts, Eddie Vedder has heard the cries of WA fans, and found a way to squeeze in a couple of West Australian dates. With Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne dates all long Sold Out, and Canberra / Adelaide shows not far off joining the list,  WA fans, mark in Thursday 20th January as your chance to grab tickets to catch him play Thursday 31st March and Friday 1st April at The Riverside Theatre. Gang Of Four post new video

Soon to be visitors on Soundwave 2011, Gang Of Four have released the video clip for ‘Never Pay for the Farm‘, the lead single from forthcoming album ‘Content’, which is out on January 21st this month. City and Colour announce 2nd and final Sydney show, Hey Rosetta! support

Without a shadow of a doubt, Australia has gone crazy for Dallas Green. Performing under the pseudonym of City And Colour and returning to Australia for his first ever headlining run of theatre dates in April, Green has captured the affections of his fans from coast to coast. When the run of national dates were announced and went on sale in late 2010, fans country-wide went wild with shows swiftly selling out and the Sydney show scheduled for Tuesday 5th April at the Metro Theatre being promptly moved to the Enmore Theatre to meet the huge demand. Today we can announce that an additional 2nd and final Sydney show will be added to the run; to take place on Wednesday 6th April at the Enmore Theatre (tickets on sale Friday 14th at 9am via Ticketek). Joining City & Colour on stage for the tour will be fellow Canadians, Hey Rosetta!, who bring with them their energized, layered sound incorporating piano, violin and cello with traditional rock instrumentation and founding member Tim Baker’s scorching vocals. Frank Turner commences recording new album

Frank Turner has entered the studio to commence recording his new album. He recently released the ‘Rock & Roll EP‘ which featured the first taste of the album in ‘I Still Believe‘. He also just put out a 10″  ‘Buddies’ with Jon Snodgrass (Drag The River) with a bunch of tracks they wrote together over a weekend late last year. You’ll have to import it, but if you can get your hands on it, it makes for an entertaining listen. The new album will be released via Epitaph at some stage this year.

Straight Arrows get Les Savy Fav supports

Sydney lo-fi garage rock / punk outfit Straight Arrows have scored the Les Savy Fav supports next month in Sydney and Melbourne. They’ll play Billboard The Venue on Tuesday 8th February and the Manning Bar on the 10th. Straight Arrows recently released their ‘It’s Happening’ album via Rice Is Nice. (Find out about it here). Unwritten Law announce Australian tour dates

With a new studio album ‘Swan‘ on the way and expected for release in March, Southern Californian outfit Unwritten Law are set to return to Australian shores in the back end of March. Making stops in Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, and each ticket will come with a free download of ‘Starships‘, the first single from the forthcoming album. Nikola Sarcevic (Millencolin) announces a Perth acoustic show

Whilst in the country with Millencolin, Nikola Sarcevic will play a headline acoustic show at the Rosemount Hotel in Perth on Sunday 6th March. You can expect tunes from his solo albums Lock-Sport-Krock (2004), Roll Roll and Flee (2006) and Nikola & Fattiglapparna (2010). Coming out of hibernation to support are Jimmy & Steve of popular 90′s Perth outfit Kerb. Also on the bill will be Grim FanBANJO, Adam James (Emporers) and Pat & Dan (The Decline). Welcome to our new newspage, it was about time the old girl got a makeover. Trying to keep the theme familiar so as to not make drastic changes, you’ll find some of the old features alongside a bunch of new ones. You’ll find a lot more media in the one place, some posts will have songs able to be streamed within it, others will have videos able to be watched within the article, saving you a trip to external sites and you can continue to browse whilst having a listen. You’ll also find a selection of songs in a music player on the top left. I’ll update this regularly offering you tunes we think you should check out. Interview – Underoath

The Decline play one show, then start on album #2

Perth outfit The Decline have announced one final show before they go into hibernation to the studio to record their second album. Last year the band released their debut ‘I’m Not Gonna Lie To You‘ and are keen to get cracking on the follow up. Perth folks can catch them play at The Rocket Room in Northbridge on Friday 4th March. They will be previewing songs off the upcoming album as well as the usual favourites. They will be joined by Burning Fiction, Scalphunter and Montage of Jesus.
