Avenged Sevenfold pick up Confide drummer Arin Ilejay

Avenged Sevenfold will now be joined by former Confide drummer Arin Ilejay after recently parting ways with Mike Portnoy. No word as to if this is just a temporary solution for touring, or if Arin will become a full time member, (I guess if he is given a zany stage name you can assume he has joined full time). The band had this to say, “We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style, and also knew our music and each of our personalities to suggest drummers to tour with us starting this year. Our longtime studio drum tech Mike Fasano recommended Arin Ilejay. We’ve rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his technical skills, attitude and work ethic. We’re very excited to tour with Arin and hope all of you will give him the warm welcome to the family we have.“

Dropkick Murphys detail ‘Going Out In Style’

Some more info has surfaced on the upcoming Dropkick Murphys album ‘Going Out In Style‘, earlier in the week we told you of the track ‘Memorial Day‘ streaming, now some details have been released. The album was produced by Ted Hutt, and even features guest vocals from Bruce Springsteen on the rousing rendition of ‘Peg O’ My Heart‘. Meanwhile the title track features guest vocals from Fat Mike, Chris Cheney and actor/comedian Lenny Clarke. Click below to expand this post and get the full rundown of the album. Skyway commence work on debut album

After a busy 2010, putting out two EP’s and playing around 90 shows including 6 Australian tours and their first overseas tour to Japan; Gold coast pop-punk band Skyway have commenced work on their forthcoming debut full-length album, ‘Finders Keepers’. The band will be recording between Capital Sound studio in Adelaide and Studio 454 in Brisbane, and mixing in Los Angeles. Release of the album is planned for May 2011, and will feature guest appearances from new and old Australian artists. Keep an eye on their Facebook page [Here] for updates and tracks.

The Get Up Kids – There Are Rules

The new album from The Get Up Kids, ‘There Are Rules‘ will be released locally on February 4th via Other Tongues. The band are releasing this one via their own label Quality Hill in the US next Tuesday, and for those who can’t wait, some limited imported copies of the CD and LP are available to order [Here]. The vinyl version will only be available via import, and is limited, so grab that now if you want one, otherwise look out for the local version with two bonus Australian only tracks instores February 4th.

Civet post ‘L.A Nights’ from forthcoming album

Civet have posted the first single ‘L.A Nights‘ from their forthcoming album ‘Love & War‘ which was due out last year, but pushed back to February this year due to some lineup changes. The previously all girl punk rock outfit is now a mixed affair with the addition of two new male members in Christian Riersgard on drums and Jonny Grill on Bass & vox. ‘Love & War‘ will be released via Hellcat Records on February 22 in the US, (Aus date TBC). Side One Dummy announce the signing of Title Fight

Side One Dummy has announced the signing of Pennsylvania punk outfit Title Fight whom after a couple of EP’s will release their debut album at some point this year, more details on that soon. You can check the band out [Here]. Commenting on the signing, the band had this to say.

“The whole process of putting out our first LP has been such a long time coming and we appreciate everyone’s patience so far. The past year and a half of our lives have been focused around this record and with that came a lot of situations that we never thought we’d find ourselves in. It’s some shit that we’ll tell our grandkids about. Anyway – what’s important is that the recording process for our first full length record is finished. Walter Schreifels produced it and Will Yip engineered it at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. SideOneDummy is putting it out. We couldn’t be more excited about that combination. Everyone involved is on the exact same page as us and that’s what we have been working so hard towards since we started even thinking about making this record. We are happy to get things moving on such a positive note and with such an amazing group of people. Keep your ears to the ground for more information and thanks to everyone for everything.“

Ben Jorgensen tour continues, Brisbane venue change

Having rolled through South Australia and Victoria last week, Ben Jorgensen continues his Australian solo tour this week. Tomorrow night things resume in Brisbane, and there has been a venue change for this show due to the recent flooding, originally scheduled for Rosie’s Live, the show will now take place at The Jubilee Hotel in Fortitude Valley, all tickets remain valid, all times and supports remain the same. Following that, on Friday night Ben play’s The Cabbage Tree Hotel in Wollongong, Saturday night The Gaelic Theatre in Sydney and Sunday night Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle. Dropkick Murphys will release their seventh album this March, titled ‘Going Out In Style‘. The album covers the story of Cornelius, an Irish immigrant in America. The record begins with the character’s raucous Irish wake and then flashes back to the beginning of his story, covering all the major moments in his extraordinary life along the way. Travis Barker – Give The Drummer Some

After unleashing two tracks, “Jump Down” and “Carry It,” from his upcoming solo album on iTunes, and tantalising his Twitter followers with tidbits of news, Blink-182 drummer and hip-hop producer Travis Barker has confirmed more details about his new album, ‘Give The Drummer Some‘, which will be released March 18th, by Interscope Records. The first single will be “Can A Drummer Get Some“. Other confirmed tracks include “Devil’s Got A Hold of Me,” featuring hip-hop supergroup Slaughterhouse, “Misfits,” featuring Steve Aoki, “Cool Head,” featuring Kid Cudi, “Don’t Fuck With Me,” featuring Paul Wall, Kurupt, and J Roc, “City of Dreams,” featuring The Clipse and Kobe, and “On My Own,” featuring Slipknot’s Corey Taylor. In addition to the list of musical artists that Barker worked with on the album, he has enlisted his favorite artists from the art world to come up with a visual representation of each track on the album. The who’s-who list includes seminal artists from the street, tattoo, graffiti, fashion and music world: Slick, David Choe, Mr. Brainwash, Mike Giant, Haze, Munk One, Nate Dino, Skinhead Rob, Richard Sanchez, Risk One, Chase Tafoya, Chris Peters, Dire One, Mr. Cartoon, Maxx242 and Usugro. Each song’s accompanying art will be rolled out in the coming weeks on his website. All up, the album will include 12 tracks with 16 tracks to be included on the deluxe version. Interview – Times Of Grace

Last Friday, Times Of Grace released their hotly anticipated debut album ‘The Hymn Of A Broken Man‘ via Roadrunner Records. The group that contains by super duo Adam D (Killswitch Engage) and Jesse Leach (The Empire Shall Fall and ex-Killswitch frontman) . Don’t be fooled into thinking that this is Killswitch: part 2 though. Written from his hospital bed, Adam contacted his old band mate Jesse to create a heartfelt and at times brutal album. Deborah Konopnicki recently spoke with Jesse, extensively covering with how the band formed, what both men were going through at the time and how that lead to the album of their careers.
