The Occupants release new single ‘Alison’

In mid 2014 The Occupants were approached to write a song under the proviso it was to be included in the soundtrack to an upcoming TV series about Gallipoli. The band dove straight into developing, refining and steering the demo they had in the direction of Gallipoli, and ‘Alison‘ was born. The band finished the track, but during the process the soundtrack deal itself somehow evaporated and the need for their song was no longer required. You can listen to ‘Alison‘ [Here]. The track will be released as a single this Friday with half the sales being donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Melbourne. “Given the amount of over-mythologising and flat-out jingoism that already exists around the subject matter of Gallipoli, we just didn’t want people to think this was some cynical ploy to cash in on all that,” explains front man Flynn Gower. Crowbar Punkrocker #4 lineup announced

The 4th installment of the Crowbar Punkrocker has been announced for Easter Saturday, 4th April. Doors will open from 5pm, pre-sale tix are $15, or $20 at the door. American Football venue upgrade for Brisbane

Tickets are moving along quickly for the recently announced American Football tour in July. Due to the high demand, the Brisbane venue has been upgraded to The Zoo. All tickets purchased remain valid. There will be no shows added, nor will the Melbourne & Sydney venues be upgraded. Claim The Throne announce Perth headline show

In Hearts Wake announce new album ‘Skydancer’

In Hearts Wake have announced their new album ‘Skydancer‘, to be released on May 1st, with lead single ‘Breakaway‘ being premiered on triple j today at midday. A documentary on the creation of the album is available to watch now at skydancerproject.com. ‘Skydancer‘ is the second half of an ambitious project that has been planned in secret well before the release of award-winning breakthrough album ‘Earthwalker‘. It will be released 364 days after its predecessor. Both albums were recorded in the same session as 2013 drew to a close and share a multitude of themes across their artwork, lyrics and charitable intentions. The ‘Earthwalker‘ CD contained a hidden booklet with a short poem referring to the masculine and feminine worlds and the lyrics to first single ‘Breakaway‘. But until very recently, no fans were aware of the secret clue. The album includes a new version of former single ‘Skydancer‘ featuring Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside, as well as guest appearances from Marcus Bridge of Northlane and J Hurley and Ben Marvin of Hacktivist. Frenzal Rhomb announce a string of new shows

Frenzal Rhomb were over in NZ this week to play their Westfest event with Soundgarden, Faith No More, Lagwagon and a stack of other bands, most of whom just played Soundwave here, and have now announced a string of tour dates through QLD, ACT and NSW. Tickets for the shows will go on sale this morning from 9am. You can catch them at Coolangatta Hotel on Friday 17th April and The Brightside in Brisbane on Saturday 18th April. On Thursday 4th June they’ll be at The Basement in Canberra. Friday 5th June they’ll play Newtown Social Club, which is looking a whole lot different now to when the band basically played on the bar in their early days when it was still The Sando. Finally on Saturday 6th June they’ll be at Entrance Leagues Club on the Central Coast. In between these bursts of touring, the band has been writing for a new album. While it doesn’t feel like that long ago, they last released ‘Smoko At The Pet Food Factory‘ back in 2011.

Red City Radio to release new album next month

Oklahoma City band Red City Radio will score a local release of their self-titled third full length album on April 24th on Double Cross Records / Cooking Vinyl. The ten track effort was recorded in January at Red Audio Werks studio with Kendall Stephens before being mixed by Matt Allison. “We’re really excited to show everyone what we’ve spent the last few months working on,” said bassist and vocalist Jonathan Knight. “We think we made something really special with this record, and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it!” The band will spend April / May on tour in the US with Strung Out. Pitt The Elder announce debut album

Melbourne’s Pitt The Elder have announced the release of their debut album ‘At The End Of The Day‘. Set to be released on March 20th via Arrest Records, there will be 300 copies available on vinyl. 200 Black and 100 Jameson & Dry coloured. You can pre-order your copy now [Here] where you can also stream three album tracks. Pitt The Elder is made up of Emma Thulborn, Jai Kennett and ex-Aitches members, Shaun Scanlan and Matt Yates. The band self-recorded the album with a little help from Sam Johnson, who also mixed it at Three Phase Studios. Oblivians begin Australian tour tonight

Oblivians are in the country and kick off their headline dates around their appearance on Golden Plains Festival today. Greg from the band will play a special solo set at The Midnight Special in Newtown from 3pm ahead of the band’s show tonight at Newtown Social Club. Thursday night is Hobart, Golden Plains on Sunday, Geelong on Monday then three nights at The Tote next week before wrapping in Brisbane on the 14th. Andrew Jackson Jihad are about to commence a full U.S. headline tour alongside The Smith Street Band, Jeff Rosenstock and Chumped. Right after that, it’s off to Europe for singer/guitarist Sean Bonnette, where he’ll be performing a mix of AJJ songs, new material and covers. Immediately following, the rest of the band will join him for a full band tour around the UK with Hard Girls. But before all of that, they have unleashed their brand new animated video for ‘Do, Re, and Me‘ off their latest album ‘Christmas Island‘. Mariachi El Bronx add second Melbourne show

With news of their show at 170 Russell becoming a sell out, Mariachi El Bronx have announced a second Melbourne headline show, this time at the intimate Ding Dong Lounge. The group are in the country next month for Bluesfest and a string of headline shows on which they’ll be joined by The Peep Tempel. Catch them in Sydney at The Metro on April 7th, The Gov in Adelaide on April 9. The extra Melbourne show at Ding Dong happens April 11. Tickets are on sale now. Hellions will this week begin their ‘Indian Summer‘ album launch tour with guests Void Of Vision. There have been a couple of changes to note. Adelaide, your show has been moved to Fowlers Live, and is now Licensed All Ages. Sydney, due to the closure of The Lansdowne Hotel, that show has been cancelled.
