2015 Australia Day Weekend Fundraiser shows announced

For the fifth year running, the Melbourne music community will band together to deliver a series of vibrant fundraiser shows across the Australia Day long weekend. The 2015 line-up has finally been unveiled, and it’s the most exciting yet. Starting in 2011 with a memorable all day event at The Tote in Collingwood, the annual Australia Day Weekend Fundraisers have raised over $25,000 and hosted almost 100 Australian acts of varying genres. All contributing bands and behind-the-scenes organisers have banded together to work for free to promote positive attitude change, and aid to those in need. The focus of this event has always been on raging against the negative attitudes and behaviours so often exhibited on our national day, fighting ignorance, acknowledging our country’s true beginnings and celebrating diversity. All profits go directly to The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, The Refugee Council and Oxfam to assist in their vital work. The 2015 edition spans two days, two venues and two massive line-ups. Footscray’s Reverence Hotel will host Frenzal Rhomb, Saskwatch, Hoodlum Shouts, Outright, Scul Hazards, Hawaiian Islands, Have/Hold, De Nada, Robert Muinos,  Initials, Tyre Swans, Kissing Booth, Ben David & Craig Coburn on Sunday 25th January. Off the back of a massive 2014, The Smith Street Band will undertake headline duties on day two at The Corner Hotel on Monday 26th January. Joined by Joelistics, The Bennies, Curse Ov Dialect, Fear Like Us and Stockades. The quality and diversity of these line-ups are a testament to the momentum gained by this annual event.
