YOU
When did the idea to start playing solo come about? When I was probably 12 years old, my dad taught my how to play a few chords on guitar and I learned one Green Day cover.
How long have you been at it? That’ll be 8 years.
What’s your most recent release? Tell us a little about it… My 7” record, ‘With a Q’, four songs on a vinyl via Jackknife. Recorded at my dad’s studio. I dunno, it’s funny.
Got a personal stand out achievement to date? I honestly can’t think of anything, I am incredibly boring.
OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously about playing it? I grew up around music, always watching my dad play shows and I really admired him for what he did and how he’s managed to do it all his life, so yeah, I guess that’s it.
Any particular band / album or song that you personally credit as a major influence? I Don’t Like It – Pauleen Pantsdown
Your first band name, and what style did you play? Myself and two of my friends, these gorgeous little blonde girls started a band called Menstrual As Anything, we played one Runaways cover.
Most prized music related item you own? My guitar, I guess.
When you’re not doing music related stuff, what are you usually found doing? I study Division 2 Nursing, I used to work at Lentil As Anything making coffee but we weren’t making enough money to stay sustainable, so now I work at the Showgrounds. Um, I like to bake vegan deserts sometimes, I made an apple crumble yesterday and it wasn’t that bad!
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is… I’ve never been on tour, but I’ve played in Newcastle and Adelaide a few times, the most exciting part is meeting heaps of lovely people at shows and sight seeing!
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is… the pressure of a plane cabin.

ON THE STAGE
When on offer, what’s your one must have item on the rider? If I’m at 303, Northcote, I go for tea because they do tea and it’s sick, if not I have cider.
Favourite place you’ve toured… and why? Adelaide! Because everyone is so bloody nice, I played in a valley at a festival my friend Ben David and a few other legends threw together, and at a house show where the family was so hospitable, there was cheese toasties and hash cookies and curry! It was amazing!
Most memorable show you’ve played? and why? In April I played at a house show in Gawler, South Australia with the Hard Aches, Bec Stevens and Foxtrot, it was just such a beautiful night with heaps of good vibes and great music!
Got a favourite song to play live? Probably the most recent ones, I like playing new songs the most because I’m not sick of them yet, I’ve been playing Maggie for three years and I’m bloody over it.
Any embarrassing on stage moments come to mind? Uhhh most definitely every time I talk between songs.
Any pre-show rituals? Smoke a ciggie.
What do you find is the hardest aspect of playing music and touring around today? Getting from A to B. I usually take trams or trains to shows because I don’t have my own Volvo yet.
RIGHT NOW
Last song you listened to? Something Stockades are rehearsing in the next room.
Last album you picked up? Rooms of the House – La Dispute LP
Which band or album is currently on high rotation? Charmer – Tigers Jaw
Tell us an up and coming band or artist you think we should go and listen to right now? The Front Bottoms, right now, go.
What’s on the cards for the next few months for you? Studying heaps and hopefully maybe touring in September!
IF ONLY…
You can pick any one album to cover in full, what would it be and why? Without Hesitation – Good Luck
You can pick any one band / artist to cover one of your releases in full, what would it be, and why? Traveling! Because I love them and they’d make my songs sooo0o0o0o0o0oooo much better.
One band you wish you were able to see live but never had the chance? Hawaiian Islands.
One venue you have yet to play that you would love to? Black Wire Records, Sydney
The chance comes up to fill in for a member of a band for one tour, which band would it be, and why? If I were better at singing and guitar then Hop Along, they have the best songs!!! When I’m riding/walking somewhere and no one’s around I sing along really loudly the best I can.
A headline tour overseas comes up, tell us two artists you’d take along to support you. My friends Bec Stevens and Jerome Knappet. We’d have the best time.
PLUG TIME
Got any final words? I’m putting out a 7” record and if you want to listen to it, you should because I am FREAAAKING OUT.
