After having already completed two legs of the tour in the U.S and about to kick off their third, the band are very eager to return to the country and perform to their Australian fans in a bid to create some nostalgia, a yearning for their former teenage glory years and, in doing so, helping to find a new relevance within these songs today, just as the band has by performing them again.
“This Throwback Tour has allowed us to rediscover songs we haven’t played in forever and see what those songs mean to us now after everything that we’ve been through, because we’ve been through a lot as a band and a lot as people.“

“Our first and only previous music video, for ‘The House That Heaven Built’ was originally designed simply to document one week in the life of Japandroids on tour in America. But as time went by, it inadvertently became not only the best visual document of Japandroids in 2012, but of the whole ‘Celebration Rock’ era. Directed by Jim Larson, it captured all the action of the road, and offered a brief glimpse into the lives we led for nearly two straight years. Conceived as a sequel, this video, very appropriately for ‘North East South West’ documents another week in the life of Japandroids on tour, this time in Europe. Filmed primarily in Spain, Italy, and Portugal, Jim Larson returns to the road to capture what has changed in the preceding years (and what hasn’t).“

It will be their last headline show for a few months, expect a few new tunes to creep into the set-list as they give them a run before recording album #2. Tickets are on sale now. It happens Sunday December 3rd. Make a note.
The band have released the first track from the album, ‘Metadata‘. You can stream it below. If you like what you hear, pre-orders for the album can be had [Here].
The album was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne, mixed by Mike Deslandes and mastered by Dav Byrne at Iridium Audio.
The vintage inspired clip, directed by James Adams, tells the story of a girl dealing with the antics of high school life and growing up.
They will launch the single at Brighton Up Bar in Sydney next Friday 22nd September. Guests are Maia Marsh and FLTRS. Tickets available [Here].
