On August 29th, Metal Blade Records and BMG will release ‘For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records‘. You can order a copy now [Here] with free delivery.

Written by label founder and CEO Brian Slagel with Mark Eglinton, and featuring a foreword by Metallica’s Lars Ulrich. Celebrating the storied label’s 35th anniversary, ‘For the Sake of Heaviness‘ is an inside look at how Slagel built Metal Blade from a one-man operation in his mum’s non-air-conditioned garage to the preeminent international home of heavy music that it is today.

The book pulls back the curtain to reveal the definitive look at how Metal Blade began, what they’ve accomplished, and where they’re going. Slagel reveals the early advice he gave that helped guide Motley Crue’s career; how he helped Metallica replace their bassist – twice; his detailed work on Thin Lizzy and Alice Cooper re-issues; his behind-the-scenes role in the careers of Slayer, GWAR, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, Faith No More, Goo Goo Dolls, and Lamb of God; and his unlikely ventures with kindred metal heads – from hockey star Ken Baumgartner, to celebrity chef Chris Santos, to The Howard Stern Show’s Richard Christy, to comedians Jim Florentine, Don Jamieson and Jim Breuer.Metal Blade Book

PUP are well known for one-upping themselves. Nearly every live performance they put on is sweatier, rowdier and somehow more chaotic than the last, and the same can be said for their music videos. Teaming up with their longtime director Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, PUP continuously shock and surprise fans with next-level concepts and visual effects.

Today, they release their latest for ‘Old Wounds‘, a totally immersive, choose your adventure style video. Across an unbelievable number of intersecting videos, the four members challenge you, their new tour manager, to get them back to their hotel room safely after a sold out show. There are 28 different ways to die, 16 aliens, 10 beers, 5 Eastern Conference NBA playoff team references, and only 4 ways for Stefan, Steve, Nestor and Zack to survive the night.

This video is one of the craziest things we’ve done as a band. I’m so proud of this thing, and am absolutely convinced that Jeremy is a total savant.

Crypt rumbled back into the underground last year after 16 years in the abyss, and now stand poised to unleash their first new material in nearly two decades with a brand new self-titled 7″ release on EVP Recordings.

Their undead savagery remains intact and putrefied after years spent rotting in the ground, with two new tracks ‘BTK‘ and ‘Mania‘ doing exactly what they do best – straight forward, old school death metal.

Limited to 200 copies and available exclusively through Bandcamp [Here], the new 7″ will be released on September 29th and is available to pre-order now – and can also be bundled with the band’s entire back catalog.

PVRIS have today released their new album, ‘All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell‘ via Rise Records.

They have also released a video clip for the latest single ‘Anyone Else‘. Watch the video clip below.

Pick up the album now on iTunes [Heres] on CD [Here] or on Vinyl [Here].

Boston band Somos have shared a fresh new track titled ‘Strangers On The Train‘.

The track is available to purchase / stream now on all the usual digital outlets.

You can give it a listen below.
