The time has come, and still fresh from the recent Fat Wreck re-issue of their debut ‘Domesplitter‘, and supporting 2016’s ‘Wasted Mind‘ album, Direct Hit! arrive for their first Australian tour this week.

They are of course teaming up with Perth’s The Decline who have been plying their trade over in Europe recently and will soon release a split 7″ with Local Resident Failure on Pee Records.

You’ll be able to catch them in Brisbane this Thursday night, Newcastle on Friday, Erina & Sydney on Saturday, Wollongong on Sunday, a just added in-store at Beatdisc in Parramatta next Monday, followed by Canberra next Wednesday, Adelaide on Friday week and wrapping in Melbourne on Saturday 9th September.

Scroll down for all the full line-ups. Tickets are on sale, and currently available for all shows. If available, they will also be at the door on the night.

WATCH

The Milwaukee-based group released their latest full length ‘Wasted Mind‘ in 2016. An 11-track concept album inspired by the warped sensibilities of such savage works as Burroughs’ Naked Lunch and Thompson’s Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

Produced by Mike Kennerty, ‘Wasted Mind‘ follows a cast of drug-addled, medicated and insane characters who check in and out of reality with reckless abandon.

Singer/Guitarist/Lyricist Nick Woods says the record is less about chemical abilities and handicaps and more about identity, consciousness and relativity.

We wrote songs for Wasted Mind that could easily be construed as straightedge anthems, and others that seem to encourage permanent brain-melting as a weekend activity. It’s more of a cautionary tale – Yeah, this whole other world opens up when you start fucking with your own perception. But how does that affect your relationship with people locked in the reality you’ve left behind? Does seeing the world in a different way than everybody else make you a deserved outcast…regardless of how good it makes you feel or the joy you bring to the world as a result?

TOUR POSTER
Direct HitLast month Fat Wreck re-issued their debut, ‘Domesplitter‘ with new artwork on vinyl.

Domesplitter is the first full-length album we put out. It’s an ‘album’ in the sense that it runs for about a half hour, but really it’s just a compilation of 10 tunes we’d already posted on the internet in the couple years leading up to its original release. The handful of people who knew and cared about our band at the time picked the tracklist out by voting on these slips of paper we mailed with SASEs before we’d even put out a real record. So really, this wasn’t even ‘original’ when it first came out, which makes it pretty fucking derivative now. But if you’re looking for wholly pioneering and groundbreaking punk rock from DH at this point, something’s probably wrong with your brain. Either way, after we signed up with Fat a lot of people started asking us if we’d ever put these tunes back on vinyl again. So that’s what we’re doing here. I still think a lot of these songs hold up. The rest make for great embarrassment fodder when we’re onstage. Show how cool you are by yelling “Living Dead” at us instead of “Free Bird.” We will never play it.
