News Bits & Pieces

CIRCA SURVIVE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, SHARE VIDEO
Pennsylvania’s Circa Survive are back to explore brand new territory with their sixth full-length, ‘The Amulet‘, due out September 22nd via Hopeless Records.

To celebrate the album’s announcement the band has shared their new music video for first single, ‘Lustration‘.

The Amulet‘ finds vocalist Anthony Green taking a dynamic approach to his penchant for high concepts. The album revolves around parallels between immense and cataclysmic themes like the ending of the world or our turbulent political climate, and the highly intimate struggles of interpersonal relationships. Green elaborated saying;

When we were writing ‘Lustration’ there was an immediate feeling that it needed to be the first song on the album and the first song that people heard. It centers the album around the themes of life, death, and rebirth, and we wanted the video and artwork to carry that theme as well. The band has changed a lot, our personal lives have changed a lot, and the video sort of symbolizes those changes you go through—as a band, as a person, in relationships—that necessary struggle you experience when you’re trying to embrace something new.

RACKETT RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘PREY’
Sydney band Rackett have released a new single ‘Prey‘.

Written at Newtown Library, recorded and produced by the renowned Dave Hammer (Megan Washington, Thundamentals, Gay Paris) the shoegaze, neo-psychedelia inspired tune is the third single to drop from their debut EP ‘Ready or Not‘, which will be released later in the year.

The band recently completed a run of support shows for The Darkness as part of their Australian Tour, appeared at Secret Garden Festival, The Blurst of Times, Mountain Sounds Festival, Electric Lady as well as selling out their ‘Ready or Not‘ single launch.

Listen to the new single below. Catch them live next on Friday 21st July at The World Bar in Sydney.

THE BLACK SEEDS RELEASE NEW SINGLE
South Pacific reggae-soul outfit The Black Seeds have debuted new single ‘Freakin.‘ The band’s funkiest offering to date, ‘Freakin‘ is a disco-inspired dance floor filler that gets down with 808 drums, bouncy synths and a beat to strut to.

Freakin is one for the end of the week, end of the line, letting loose. Shaking it off. It is the party pick me up track on the album with lyrics to match. The band liked the demo I presented to them, and we wanted something upbeat for the album and our live set too. So we began developing and layering the ‘Freakin’ and throwing all sorts of tasty keyboards and different uptight tones over one massive take.

The new track follows the release of first single ‘Better Days‘ and is from The Black Seeds’ new record ‘Fabric‘, which is released on Friday 8th September via Remote Control.
