On the single, guitarist Sabian Lynch explains;
“Ward Of The State is a first person realisation and negative experience of foster care. Being taken away from the walls of comfortability and thrown into what was meant to be a “better environment” only to have it destroy your innocence. Everyone has their one place they call home, their safe space and there should never be a reason to have that stripped from you. Your family are the only ones who’ll undoubtedly always truly care for you. Your home is your home.“
Watch the video for the single, filmed live on the recent tour by Elliot Sauvage below. Alpha Wolf will be supporting Thy Art Is Murder nationally this July / August.
The single will be available on all digital platforms tomorrow, and is the first taste of their forthcoming album ‘Helisma‘.
The album was recorded last year at Studio Anders Debeerz with Adam Merker. The recording process was not without speed bumps and the loss of various members of the group slowed proceedings down, including guitarists and vocalists. After some recruitment and touring with new members – the album was back on track and Merker guided the band through the process, including a guest vocal performance from Björn ‘Speed’ Strid (Soilwork) on the track ‘Days get Darker‘.

The announcement of this first national tour has been a long time coming for fans who have been waiting patiently since the release of the ‘Terrace‘ EP in 2014 to hear the emotionally driven, stripped back songs live on stage.
Little Brother, which focuses on the art of story telling and the exploration of love, loss and heartache, has shot to popularity with his latest single ‘Cleveland, OH‘. Released in late 2016 via Hopeless Records, the track has garnered close to a million streams and continues to climb, At the start of 2017, Little Brother played UNIFY Festival and sold out a handful of Sydney headline shows not long after. He is currently doing a lap of the US on the Vans Warped Tour.

On the first single from the album, ‘Forgot Myself,’ Cloher writes unflinchingly about the sacrifices and difficulties of maintaining a long-distance relationship. The accompanying video can be seen below. iTunes pre-orders are available [Here]. Get physical pre-orders via Bandcamp [Here].
Of the song’s inspiration, Cloher said
“You want to be with your partner celebrating big moments in their life but at the same time you have your own life to live thousands of miles away. It’s easy to stop taking care of yourself. Easy to forget yourself.“
A letter in triplicate addressed to the themes of love, music and Australia, this fourth album is the culmination of a period of artistic and personal growth in which the artist took her rightful place as a punk-rock figurehead of Melbourne’s famous DIY music scene. She is an outspoken advocate for artist rights and co-founder of the Milk! Records label, as well as the great I Manage My Music workshops. Since 2013 Cloher’s output has been increasingly sharp-witted and poetic, with her last album, the critically lauded ‘In Blood Memory‘ representing an artistic apex for the artist and garnering her a prestigious Australian Music Prize nomination.
