Seeded by 3 years of heavy touring and recording with Colorado-based band the Photo Atlas, former drummer Nick Miles has now abandoned his place behind the drum kit to challenge himself as front-man on this project. They have self-produced a handful of five to six song EP’s & some other various single tracks, as well as logging tens of thousands of miles playing shows around the US. Now they serve up the full length.
You can check out two songs from the album streaming below. Pre-orders are available on Bandcamp [Here]. It will be released this Friday.
Following her acclaimed 2015 album ‘Abyss‘, ‘Hiss Spun‘ is at once dynamic, heavy, and raw as shown by the first taste, ‘16 Psyche‘.
Recorded by Kurt Ballou (Converge), the album was conceived as an emotional purge, a means of coming to terms with the tumult of the outside world by exploring the complexities of one’s inner unrest.
“I’m at odds with myself. I got tired of trying to disappear. The record became very personal in that way. I wanted to open up more, but also create my own reality.“
‘Hiss Spun‘ features prominent guitar contributions by Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age, Failure) throughout the album, and a guest spot from Aaron Turner (Old Man Gloom, SUMAC) on the song ‘Vex‘.
Listen to ‘16 Psyche‘ below. The song comes as an instant download with iTunes pre-orders [Here].
The EP is now available on Digipack CDs, 12″ vinyl and in all digital formats.
