Since 2001, The Black Dahlia Murder have created a musical brute that embraces all the finest qualities of melodic death metal yet does not shackle them, giving them room to constantly evolve and grow.
While crushingly violent, the latest album ‘Abysmal‘ is certainly a long way from being a two-dimensional blast-fest. The Black Dahlia Murder have inflicted a cavalcade of riffs to the table, upping the stakes in technicality, melody, and sheer blunt force trauma, letting intoxicating flavours of black metal and NWOBHM creep into the vicious assault.
They return to Australia this week for five blistering shows around the country on a massive line up that also features US bands The Faceless and Putrid Pile, plus locals Whoretopsy and Unravel.
The Faceless have carved their opaque path by daring to be different and composing intricate and unique sharp sounding gems. Focusing on mixing fast, aggressive riffs, high-speed blast beats and double bass, with heavy, death metal style vocals, tasty guitar melodies, beautiful solos, eerie clean vocals, and creatively-structured drumming. They have made a name for themselves as a critically acclaimed ‘musician’s band’.
Putrid Pile is an intense, sick and twisted guttural, death metal machine that crushes the senses and grinds your eardrums to a pulp. Shaun Lacanne has one purpose – to quench your thirst for brutality with nonstop aggressive face-pounding grind and ultra slam hooks.
Whoretopsy provide the sick, brutal, disgusting Australian brutal death metal. Barbarically heavy in sound, meticulously tight on the stage, Whoretopsy’s unique spin on slamming death metal is sure to have audiences banging their heads, laughing somewhat guiltily or fleeing with fear. Or perhaps all of the above.
Crawling from the gutters of Perth, Unravel’s old school sledge hammer approach to Death Metal / Hardcore Punk / Grindcore / Crossover, is smacking the piss out punters everywhere they execute their raw and abrasive throngs.
The show in Perth includes an innovative new dimension in diversity with the inclusion of some of Perth best stand up comedians & That Naughty Food Truck providing a feast of food.
As part of Perth’s newest live music venue, Badlands boasts The Henhouse Live room, situated next to the main room & will house the newly added comedians who will maintain the energy for the night between band sets.
This is an exclusive for the Perth show only, Soundworks Touring’s Brad Wesson will MC, while Sean Conway, Hayden Douglas and Cameron McLaren will provide the chuckles.
