After a tumultuous couple of years, including the tragic death of their first vocalist, Phoebe Black, and the posthumous release of the ‘Krypton‘ album that the band had been recording with her, Byron based prog rockers Valhalla Lights are back with their first release with new vocalist, Ange Saul.
‘Rise Above‘ is the first track from the new album, ‘My Gracious Highway‘ and can be streamed below. If you dig it, you can digitally purchase the track [Here].
‘My Gracious Highway‘ is a slow release album with one track being digitally released per month on the first day of every month for all of 2016, and a final track on 31st December. The band will release a CD version of the album some time mid-year, and that will allow fans to hear the album in its entirety before the end of the year, but the CD will be available at gigs only. Fans that are happy to stream or want to buy it digitally will need to wait for each song to be released monthly, and will have to wait until the last day of the year to hear the album in full.
“We are excited to be releasing the album this way as it gives each song the chance to shine. We have put a lot of effort into the songs and we have spared no expense. Our main aim is for people to hear the music and to share a 12 months journey with us as we progressively release the songs. People are welcome to buy the full CD mid-year, if they don’t want to buy it then we want them to hear the music anyway so we are releasing the streaming and download versions one by one. We have always loved doing it slowly … and the anticipation of each months release is going to be really exciting for us!“
Valhalla Lights is ex Fort (George Christie, Deon Driver, Brent Crysell) with Ange Saul (The Black Lullaby) on vocals. The album was recorded at Rockinghorse Studios, Byron Bay with long time engineer, Anthony Lycenko and has been mixed and mastered by Forrester Savell (Shihad, The Mark of Cain, Karnivool).
