Osaka Punch are about to jump onto the national touring circuit in support of their new single ‘Stonk‘ throughout February and March.
The four-piece will drop into Melbourne, Sydney, Byron Bay, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Gladstone and of course, Brisbane.
‘Stonk‘ was recorded in the Grammy-Award winning Parr St Studios with Andrea Wright (Elbow, Anathema, Coldplay) while on a stint in the UK for the band. They returned to Australia with a renewed vigour and a little more street-wise.
It will feature on their debut full-length that is slated for a September release. A heap of touring is planned, and more singles will be released before that time comes though.
The growing hype surrounding this act is based solely on a virtuosic high-energy live performance showcasing the group’s ability to straddle any genre from authentic old-school funk to extreme modern metal. This flexibility has caused critics to draw comparisons to Frank Zappa and Mr Bungle, and has already earned them support slots with a wide range of both international and local acts such as Little Birdy, Mammal, Ed Keupper, True Live, LABJACD, Faker, The Matches, Endorphin and more.
Frontman Jack Muzak muses on the upcoming tour,
“We haven’t had a lot of chances to spread our wings into the different spots around Australia yet. This is going to be a great chance to take some new stages and surprise the shit out of audiences. If you’ve been to a Brisbane show of ours, pass the word on. You won’t be disappointed.“
Tickets for the tour go on sale today.
