Vinnie Caruana, of I Am The Avalanche and The Movielife, has signed to Equal Vision Records as a solo artist.

Caruana has also entered The Barber Shop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ with producer Brett Romnes (I Am The Avalanche, Anthony Raneri), to record his debut solo full-length album.

I’ve known Dan Sandshaw who runs the label since the very early Movielife days. He was very keen to sign us back then, but we had already begun the proceedings of signing to Revelation. When I decided I wanted to make the first solo full-length album of my career, I demoed some songs and sent them to Dan before anyone else. He, along with Johnny Minardi (A&R at the label), immediately reacted with a level of excitement and passion towards my new songs that I require from anyone before I even can consider working with them. Equal Vision has been a mainstay in the punk scene for years and has run itself with great integrity since before I even knew I’d be a musician. They and I are kinfolk. We are lifers who have endured and maintained respect in the scene throughout the years and through its many phases. For me, Equal Vision is a very good match.

Of the upcoming recording Caruana reveals,

This album will be intensely personal. I’ve been writing it all year and stand firmly behind the statement that this is the best, most fully-formed songwriting I’ve ever created. Brett “The Ratt” Romnes – who produced the last two I Am The Avalanche records – will be manning the boards. We are recording at The Barber Shop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. The studio is on the shore of a lake, in a beautiful old stone church from the late 1800s that has been converted into a studio. I’ll be playing guitar and singing, The Ratt will play drums, Steve Choi (Rx Bandits, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Peace’d Out) will be contributing keys and guitars, and Kellen Robson (I Am The Avalanche, Pass Away) will be playing bass. But enough talk for now…it’s time to get in the studio so I can show the world what I’ve been working on.

Caruana has toured and shared stages with the likes of Saves The Day, Brand New, Dashboard Confessional, Glassjaw, Balance and Composure, and Anthony Green; And has performed at festivals around the world including Reading and Leeds, Soundwave, Riot Fest, Hevy Fest, and Groezrock.

Stay tuned for more album information, and new music once it becomes available.
