Poison City Weekender Fest is set to return in 2015 with this year’s party bigger than ever! Now in its 7th year, Weekender Fest will descend on some of Melbourne’s most hallowed live music venues in celebration of the music and friendships united under the banner of the Poison City Records label and the community that has grown from its fertile influence. Excitingly, Poison City have for the very first time added an under 18’s show in the weekends festivities.
This year’s event will be headlined by the triumphant return of local heroes, The Smith Street Band. Currently one of the countries most celebrated bands, The Smith Street Band have risen through the ranks since Weekender Fest’s inception and now crowned the event’s unofficial kings. They are coming off the biggest year of their career after the release of their immensely successful third album, Throw Me In The River, which saw them playing multiple sold out tours across Australia and continue their relentless touring across the world. They’ll be joined by their great mates and fellow big-name Poison City acts The Bennies, Clowns, and Tasmanian punk champions Luca Brasi.
This year’s Weekender Fest will also feature a huge contingency of international artists, including Long Island anthemic rockers Iron Chic, rising Philadelphia bummer-punks Modern Baseball, Phoenix’s anti-folk idols Andrew Jackson Jihad, genre and format benders Self Defense Family, and Ohio power pop foursome The Sidekicks, all making their first trip down under.
As always, the line-up also boasts an impressive slice of the Australian underground. From buzzsaw punk legends, The Meanies to the post-punk and garage sounds of Deep Heat, Mere Women and Batpiss, to the soulful sounds of The Sugarcanes and Georgia Maq, plus still more bands to be announced!
Full line-ups for each venue will be announced in coming days and tickets go on sale Friday April 17th via www.ticketscout.com.au and www.poisoncityestore.com)
