HOME
Hometown : We all live around the eastern suburbs of Melbourne,
Vic.
Hometown is best known for : I think our area
is best known for it’s scummyness in some areas haha we have
a few gross train stations where a lot of highly educated folk hang
out and sniff paint.
Best venue in your hometown : I’d say TLC
in Bayswater.
THE BAND
How long has the band been going?
We have been together around 3 years as House Vs Hurricane but a
little longer under our old name.
Many lineup changes along the way?
Haha good question. We have a had 1 previous drummer and 2 previous
bass players. All of which are jerk off’s.
How would you describe your sound to the average person
on the street?
Heavy, like the music you wouldn’t show your Mum, with some
nice parts.
What's your most recent release? Tell us a little about
it...
Perspectives, it’s our debut long player. We recorded it in
sunny, sunny Baltimore, USA with Brian Mcternan. It’s an album
of songs that we wrote in the hope that people can draw whatever
they want from it, possibly like it.
Got a favourite track that you have released so far?
I like ‘Off The Wall’
OFF THE STAGE
What was your first introduction to music that made you think seriously
about playing it?
My sister went to Torquay to see Blink 182 sometime in the 90’s
and then I started listening to them and decided I wanted to be
Tom Delonge.
What was your first band name, and what style did you play?
My first band was called Sky Fell Yesterday, we were horid and did
covers and maybe wrote 1 song. I played bass.
Most prized music related item you own?
I have an MXPX bass pick with the punk face on one side and Mike
Herrera’s John Hancock on the other.
The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is..
hanging out with new friends and playing rad as balls shows!
The thing you least look forward to before a tour is..
driving long, long distances with only McDonald’s stops to
look forward to.
When your not doing band related stuff, what are you usually
found doing?
Skateboarding, riding, working, hanging with my girl and op shopping.
ON THE STAGE / ROAD
Best rider item you've ever received without requesting it?
Mmmmm… pizza is always a bonus when that comes around. We
never get anything good, the best thing we have gotten is pizza
and we ask for it.
Favourite place (city/town/country) you’ve toured…
and why?
Perth because of the great weather and great buddies and you don’t
have to drive there, you fly! Also Wollongong because there are
heaps of hot ladies, it’s like they all just had a hot lady
convention in Wollongong and never went home.
Most memorable show you've played? and why?
Severed Ties Amity tour at Manning Bar was rad. We all (everyone
on the tour) ran out on stage during A Secret Death and headbanged
for one riff then ran off.
Worst 'guilty pleasure' artist / song you've come across
on a bandmates iPod?
I think that would usually be other people listening to my iPod,
I’m known to enjoy a good dose of 90’s pop/dance.
Who in your group has the worst “bad habit”
on tour, and what is it?
We occasionally have to top and tail when we share beds and Dylan
is by far the worst to sleep with, I once woke up and his head was
resting on my back near my butt.
RIGHT NOW
Where are you?
Lying in bed at home.
What's the last song you listened to?
Marching Bands Of Manhattan by Death Cab For Cutie
Which band or album is currently rockin' your world?
Converge - Axe To Fall
Tell us a band we should all go and listen to right now?
The Notwist, they are amazing and cool.
IF ONLY...
If you could pick any one album to cover from start to finish, what
would it be and why?
It would be Blink 182’s Dude Ranch, a bunch of us in the band
love Blink and they would have to be easily some of the funnest
songs to play.
If you could pick any one band / artist to cover one of
your albums from start to finish, what would it be, and why?
David Bowie, because he would make our songs good, he is the only
one who could do that.
If you could pick one band to re-unite so you could play
a one-off show with, who would it be, and why?
Korn, with their old guitarist Head.
One big tour, you can take two currently active bands to
support you, who would you choose, and why?
We would take Circa Survive and Messugah and we would open the shows.
They are both incredible bands we look up to heaps and that would
be the most intense genre spanning show ever. |
